Day 85 – The Next Gym Session Is My Last

In Malaysia, that is.

Imma heading for the continent of Australasia. Oh yeah.

Lotsa opportunities.

Then again, at the same time, I’ve got to think about how to consume mah meals cause eating 6 times a day is quite a feat to perform.

Who knows, I might even have to fast a lil. Ever wondered why backpackers always look so thin all the time?

Anyway, you’ll find out how I’m gonna tackle this issue.

These past few days, I’ve been spamming the magic powder few times a day just to save time. Sometimes, I just need to get work done and can’t spend much time eating solid foods.

I just estimate the calories from the food I eat (eat a smaller portion) and the rest is all whey powder (aka magic powder of all time).

BUT

It’s bad.

Doing this makes me feel hungry more quickly. Which sucks too. 

STILL

It’s hella convenient to keep the number of protein and calories in check this way.

Cause not consuming enough protein and calories and fats would suck, which will lead to muscle catabolism (aka muscle loss).

Now, how the heck do I eat 6 times a day while working odd jobs for someone else?

PS: I’ve skipped 4 days of gym due to flying preparation. Yes. I’m going to fly. I flew once when I was 9 years old. This time, I’m gonna do it again. Fly like a birdie…eeeeeee

Day 81 – Calfred’s Dead

Oh yeah, shame on you for wanting to know whether I was dead or not. You negative suckers. Gotcha.

Anyway, I know you miss me. Aite.

So here goes a special photoshoot in the gym itself lol.
Hint: It took about 10% of balls to perform this shirtless adventure in the gym.  

I’ve been missing in action since day 73 (man, that’s about 8 days without workout or any exercise of any kind) and I got what I deserve.

Lifting weights become much harder in the gym! What the heck.

Stamina was cut short too. 

Muscles become tired more quickly. 

Basically workouts become harder and it felt like I was a complete gym noob all over again. Kinda like the momentum got stopped and I gotta rebuild the momentum.

That’s what I get for skipping gym for 8 days and not eating the right foods.

Actually gained 3 kg (6.6 pounds/lbs), believe it or not. Well, although the majority must be fat, some part must be muscles too. Hehe.

Well, but I still managed for a healthy intake of protein, aka magic powder (or making sure the outside meals I buy contain enough protein; fish and chip, salmon, chicken, etc.). What if the outside meals don’t contain enough protein? Well, I then make some magic powder drinks at home asap after the meal.

And guess what, I gotta buy air ticket. Tonight. And for the 1st time ever, I’m gonna buy air ticket. Big deal. Except that I’ve never done it before.

And I’m flying outta here in 10 days’ time.

Hehe. Wonder what the Australian wet market (ya, I’m a smart consumer who buys and cooks his own foods) can offer. Cause I hear food portions are rather big over there.

Day 73 – Call the Doctor!

Went to the doctor.

Why?

Cause I thought I had sinusitis (a condition where the nose is blocked all the time and the person’s head will get headaches all the time and all kinds of bad stuff).

And also cause I sneeze almost everyday. Wow. Big deal. But in the normal world, that means you’re sick. In Calfred’s world, it’s no big deal.

But thank goodness the doctor just told me it’s just a sensitive nose. So it’s really no big deal. However, since sneezing frequently now and then is not cool, I shall take medicine and use a nasal spray.

Might even improve my oxygen intake during gym. 

Giving it a shot.

I’m kinda sick of having to wipe the good old translucent stuff from my nose all the time too.

And apparently, it’s gonna be worse in Australia cause the air condition’s worse than Malaysia’s.

Cause it’s less humid, more dust flying around (flowers blooming around during some seasons, strong winds, etc.).

Day 72 – Fucking Day

But I did not fuck anyone. 

Day 68 – It’s Friday, And Weekend’s the Enemy

Cause usually I’ll binge a little and have some cheat meals.

Well, I’ve also noticed by cheating the weekend and being lazy (it does affect the momentum when Monday comes, thus the Monday blues effect) do not help at all.

And thus, I suffer some muscle shrinking once the weekend’s done.

On the other hand, there were some weeks whereby I ate 6 full meals complete with good carbs and protein and healthy fats and stuff on the weekends and the muscles maintained their size.

Imma continue eating like a beast on Sat and Sun like I do on every Mon – Fri.

And there’s the travel on Monday next week, which means I can’t get to go to the gym. Damn. Well, push ups and some pull ups then.

Day 66 – Wow, I’m Really Ripped. Mom, Look!

New lighting. New this. New that. Don’t anyone just love to hear about new stuff? Huh? Novelty. Human nature.

Anyway, went to gym late (slept late). Arrived at 4pm and reached home at 5.30pm. As you can guess, there was no early afternoon natural bright sun lighting for good old me posing in front of my narrow cheapo mirror.

What did I do?

Turned on the fluorescent light in front of me (it’s behind the mirror) so the good old fluorescent white holy light shines upon mah body. That’s what I learned from video dudes anyway; when it comes to lighting, illuminate the face.

And what do you know? A more ripped photo lol. What a discovery by accident.

*** Drum rolls mofos. Be prepared to be information overloaded. ***

Anyway, this past one week, I discovered one really good secret throughout my 66 days of serious bodybuilding adventure. Yes serious. With some cheat meals and cheat days in between (about 5% off the discipline bridge).

I wish I had known about this from day 1.

And that secret is…

Consuming protein before sleep. (burn your head with this secret right now. seriously)

Why? Cause this prevents muscle catabolism.

What’s muscle catabolism? From what I know, catabolism means losing muscles. Fuck. What a definition. What a discovery. On the other end of spectrum, anabolism is gaining muscles.

(that’s the simple definition. Don’t wanna know further about the technical stuff [despite graduating with an Engineering degree]. You nerds can go Google about it)

If you notice carefully (as I’ve inevitably obviously noticed myself) and visually, the body did not “degrade” as much during this week (day 63 – 65).

So good old me consumes a good protein shake and some foods before sleep.

And the great thing I don’t notice the “mysterious shrinking” of muscles the next day when I wake up in the morning. In fact, kinda look ripped lol.

How did I discover about this?

By accident.

The only question remains is whether to consume chicken breast (normal protein foods) OR the magical-powder-of-all-time @ night before sleep. Think I’ll stick to the magical powder for now cause I don’t like eating huge stuff before sleep anyways (and the last meal’s always cold as fuck, which could lead to stomach pains the next day and interrupting my sleep).

And because

Wow man. Consuming a good amount protein before sleep is one of the best things I’ve ever done to myself.

(now what I mean by eating before sleep is actually your last meal before sleep)

On a side note, if you’re still reading till this point, you deserve to know about this another secret discovery I made.

I’ve also discovered that bodybuilders tend to take casein protein powder (another mystical magical powder that comes from Egypt) at night. Why? Cause casein (unlike whey, the one I’m consuming right now) is slow release. Therefore, supposedly, the body gets constant amount of protein when sleeping. Thus avoiding catabolism (muscle loss).

And no, I don’t have casein protein mystical powder that comes from Egypt. Only whey.

Day 65 – I’m Cured!

How about some smile? Aha.

No more shitty trips to toilets makes me happy.

PS: Papaya enzyme tablets are kinda delicious to chew btw. Kinda like eating candy.

Day 64 – Fuck The Diarrhea Again

Woke up earlier than usual (woke up at the 6th hour [out of total 8 hours]) and rushed to toilet. It was da stomach pain.

This means interrupted sleep for Calfred. He hates sleep interruption.

Must have eaten something cold (not warmed up properly) last night.

(fyi, cold foods always fuck me up. It could fuck you up too. Say no to cold foods buddy)

Went to the toilet another 2 more times as usual and got myself kinda tired and dehydrated. Wasted time and effort. Going to the toilet. Hate.

Noticed there’s a performance drop in gym today as well cause of the frequent trips to toilet to drop the liquid brown bombs.

Anyway, went shopping yesterday to get the magical-holy-grail-powder-of-all-time again.

Went out. Wasted time. Wasted money. Hate. But a must-have investment.

Anyway, magic powder is a must for the anabolic window right after workout. So wth. Can’t afford NOT to gain the most for the efforts (all the lifting).

And what do you know?

Due to me buying stuff at the magic powder shop, I got bonus points. I could use these bonus points to get some stuff for myself. Lol.

RM6.50. Wow. Consumed it today 15 mins before gym. Worked wonders in the beginning. Felt powerful due to the surge of glycogens and ATP. Heavy weights felt about 10-20% easier believe it or not. It felt like an energy boost somehow.

But suffered the bonk (aka glucose unavailability) during the later half of the workout. Felt weak. Well, it could be caused by the diarrhea earlier on and interrupted sleep too. Who knows.

Maybe I took it a lil too early. Maybe I shoulda taken it during the workout instead. Idk. Maybe I’ll discover for sure when I get my first real racing bike soon. Oh yes cycling’s another “passion”. Cause lotsa stamina sports use sports/energy gel.

What’s this for? Helps improve digestion. Which apparently is very helpful for heavy eaters.

I doubt I’ll benefit from this as much cause I’ve been enjoying the lemon water for 2 days now.

Day 63 – Monday

So ok. Got some nice hits to the blog on Judgement Day lol. Who knows FaceBook’s so viral.

Anyway, these 2 weeks are all about failure sets. Let’s rock.

Been drinking lemon water starting yesterday.

Why?

Cause it detoxifies, helps digestion and some other good stuff I can’t remember at this time of writing.

Tastes kinda delicious too. I don’t go overboard with big amount of lemons. Just 2-3 slices. Who knows I might increase it. Idk.

Apparently, lotsa other bodybuilders are doing this as well.

Judgement Day Has Arrived – Day 60

What do you know. After 60 days, this is what I’ve got.

Suddenly those supersets and endless eating make some sense.

Some kind of satisfaction.

Better pants, better cam, better lighting, better phototaking skills, better pose, what else.

Better me I guess.
